        Kent, Tenterden.- Indenture, William Gaben and William Robyn of Tenterden grant and concede to John Daye and Thomas Potts of a messuage and seven pieces of land in Mensden in the parish of Tenterden, and mentioning Thomas Carpenter sometime mayor of Tenterden, manuscript in Latin, on vellum, 21 lines, in brown ink, indented at head, remains of 2 red wax seals, folds, slightly browned, 163 x 277mm., 16th March 1480. ⁂ Probably Thomas Carpenter, several times mayor of Tenterden. In 1465, Richard Earl of Warwick and Salisbury, constable of Dover Castle and warden of the Cinque Ports, or his lieutenant was ordered to arrest Thomas Carpenter of Tenterden, co. Kent, and bring him before the king in Chancery.
