James Robinson (1944-2015) Cowboys Riverside, 2014 acrylic on canvas 24 x 36 inches 30.5 x 42.5 inches (frame) signed lower right: Robinson 2014 James Robinson, a native of the Lone Star State, chose Texas's rugged landscape as his primary subject matter. An intimate knowledge of Texas and the many facets of the western landscape are obvious when one views a painting created by the artist. Born in Houston in 1944, Robinson always knew he would be an artist. He was committed to his education and earned a BFA. He studied both commercial and fine art as a freelance designer and illustrator, polishing his painting skills on the side. Robinson was influenced by such artists as Frank Tenney Johnson, James Reynolds, Howard Terpning, John Singer Sargent and Joaquin Sorolla. He sought to evoke these qualities in his own work and establish his own niche in Western art by unique combinations of light, color and action. Robinson won numerous awards including Artist’s Choice in 2010 and Best Group in 2007 from the Briscoe Museum’s Night of Artists show in San Antonio, Texas. Another honor was the Olaf Wieghorst Award for the best painting at the 2007 Mountain Oyster Show in Tucson, Arizona.

James Robinson Pistol Handle Sterling Silver Knife

This is a handsome knife from James Robinson of London England. It is free of monograms and features a sterling silver pistol handle. The blade is marked for Robinson and the neck of the handle bears full English silver hallmarks for C W Fletcher. Fletcher was taken over by Robinson in 2002. The date code on the handle is "I" indicating the year of manufacture as 1983. It is 9 1/4" long. The handle is weighted.
