      A Gentleman, wearing black coat and waistcoat, white chemise and black tied stock. Signed on the reverse Painted in Glasgow/ by/ Edward Robertson/ July 1844, gilt-mounted within rectangular gilt-metal frame; together with two portrait miniatures of Ladies, one oval and one rectangular (the latter Manner of N. Freese), a rectangular portrait miniature of Colonel John Sidney of the 11th Regiment of Foot (English School, dated 1837), inscribed on the reverse, My Son John Sidney/ 1837 and an oval portrait miniature of Mr John Watson (1786-1869) when 27 years of age, (English School, circa 1813), inscribed on the reverse, all framed, various heights.
