      Napoleonic satire.- Roberts (Piercy, publisher) An English bull dog and a Corsican blood hound, early printing before Thomas Tegg scored through Roberts' inscription, etching with hand-colouring on wove paper without watermark, sheet 270 x 370 mm. (10 5/8 x 14 1/2 in), upper and lower edges trimmed to or just within platemark, two printers' creases and split to upper centre, some surface dirt and damp-stains, unframed, [BM Satires 10080], [circa 1803 or slightly later]; together with Joshua Smith's Playing at Bubbles [BM 10022], Little !!ships!! or John Bull very Inquisitive [BM 9995], both published by Piercy, and with William Holland's John Bull Firing at Mark [Not in BM Satires], and Laurie & Whittle's Johnny Bull, on the look-out [BM 10098], etchings with hand-colouring, various sizes, all but one trimmed to or just within the platemarks, some surface dirt and minor browning, unframed, 1803 (5)

      a defiantly patriotic invasion print of a muscular St George vanquishing a dragon with the uncaricatured head and arms of Napoleon, original hand-coloured etching, 350 x 270mm., slight surface dirt, [BM Satires 10076], by the artist, 1803; A Stoppage to a Stride over the Globe, a giant Napoleon straddles the globe, challenged by 'little Johnny Bull', original hand-coloured etching, 335 x 245mm., trimmed into upper and lower platemarks, outside all printing, slight creasing, [BM Satires 9981], 1803; [My Ass in a Band Box], an invasion print mocking Napoleon's lack of ships, original hand-coloured etching, trimmed to outside the image but with loss if title, [BM Satires 10101], 1803; with John Bull Playing on the Base villain, trimmed to image and title, browned, [BM Satires10142, first issued 1803], a later issue by Tegg, 1807 § Rowlandson (Thomas) Attributed to. Bonaparte getting a shaving in England, another defiant invasion print from September, 1803, showing John Bull as a barber fiercely gripping Napoleon's nose, gripping a jagged razor he has saved for his arrival, original hand-coloured etching, 350 x 245mm., slight surface dirt and minor handling creases, [not in BM Satires], William Holland, 1803 (5)
