      Property from a Savannah, GA Estate Description: Morton Roberts (MA, 1927-1964), The Light Ship, Watercolor, signed lower left, depicting the Lightship restaurant with large anchor in the foreground, matted and framed. Frame size: 27 3/4 in. x 34 in. Morton Roberts was an accomplished painter and Illustrator. He was born in Worcester, MA, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in 1950. Roberts taught life drawing at Pratt Institute from 1950 to 1954. Later, he taught life classes at the National Academy School of Fine Arts. He was an member of the National Academy of Design and a member of the American Watercolor Society, the Allied Artists of America, the Copley Society and the Rockport Art Association. His works were exhibited at shows in Philadelphia, Boston and New York. He is represented in the permanent collections of the Parrish Museum in Southampton, L. I., and the National Academy of Design. Note the resemblance to John Kennedy in the face of the central character. The figure furthest to the left resembling a young Robert Kennedy. Most likely used for a magazine story illustration. Roberts received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in 1950.
