Carved from a block of wood, a semicircular figure, like a fan or a seashell is presented on a rectangular base. The object further shows two small wooden doors at the bottom, which can be opened. Giuseppe Rivadossis work is focused on the creation of a poetic domestic space, connected with old traditions and new structures. His wooden sculptures are carved from the beginning entirely from a single block, since he devotes his work to the simplicity and lightness of forms suggesting a sudden appearance of light. He always works according to the materials needs and in harmony with nature. Another version of this sculpture was exhibited in 2010 at the Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City. The sculpture is in good condition showing only minor signs of wear. The edges of the base indicate minimal nicks. The surface of the sculpture partially bears minor abrasions, otherwise it is of good overall impression. The dimensions are 101 x 139 x 27 cm (H x W x D). Guiseppe Rivadossi (b. 1935) Guiseppe Rivadossi was born 1935 in Nave in the province of Brescia, Italy. His interest in art was awakened early by his father, and further by frequenting the art scene in the region around Milan during the mid-20th century. He first created bronze, terracotta and wooden sculptures in the design of which he tried to capture the poetic dimensions of space. In the 70s, gallery owners became aware of Rivadossi so that numerous exhibitions including at the Milan Triennale in 1974 and the Biennale in Menton followed. Thereby Rivadossi always considered the sensitivity of the materials since his sculptures are always in dialogue with nature. Guiseppe Rivadossi (b. 1935) Guiseppe Rivadossi was born 1935 in Nave in the province of Brescia, Italy. His interest in art was awakened early by his father, and further by frequenting the art scene in the region around Milan during the mid-20th century. He first created bronze, terracotta and wooden sculptures in the design of which he tried to capture the poetic dimensions of space. In the 70s, gallery owners became aware of Rivadossi so that numerous exhibitions including at the Milan Triennale in 1974 and the Biennale in Menton followed. Thereby Rivadossi always considered the sensitivity of the materials since his sculptures are always in dialogue with nature.
