Piece functions as far as it appears it should. The handle turns and engages all gears until hammer strikes ball. Springs could be tigtened in order for the machine to function better. Chips in enamel throughout, heaviest near weep hole below signature.

George Rhoads Audiokinetic Ball Machine Sculpture

Illinois, New York,b.1926 The machine contains an intricately layered downward track with coils, cyclone forms, and xylophone-like middle section striking twenty-six cascading notes. Along it's path the ball strikes twelve metallic polychrome painted wind chimes of varied form with a large blue accent chime within the center of a cyclone. The sculpture is an early example of Rhoads' work predating any collaborative sculpture with Rockstream Studio or Creative Machines.
