        Richard Rezac, Untitled (Robie Object)

        Est: $3,000 - $5,000

Richard Rezac Untitled (Robie Object) 2004 original brick, nickel-plated bronze, painted steel, brass rod, epoxy 5 h × 14 w × 9 d in (13 × 36 × 23 cm) This work is comprised of original bricks from Frederick C. Robie House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1909. Rezac was one of five Chicago-based artists asked to make works using materials from the home to be offered in support of the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation. The artist provided specific instructions for installation: "This work should be installed level, and so that it is seen from below. The bolts should be placed in wall at least 80 inches above floor, using lag bolts or hollow-wall/molly bolts, depending on the wall composition." Signed to verso 'R. Rezac'. Provenance: Acquired in 2004 from a Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust charity auction by the present owner This work will ship from Wright in Chicago, Illinois. condition: The found brick has some scattered losses and natural wear typical of the material and where it was acquired. A few of the brass rods have a bend in them where they start to protrude the brick while the nickel pieces are relatively plum. This may have been part of the working technique of the artist. Overall this piece is in very good condition.
