Though he is best known for devising the system of warning lanterns for the Minutemen against British Invasion, and his famous ride in 1775, artist Paul Revere was an accomplished silversmith and engraver by trade. Born into a family with 12 children, he apprenticed under his artisan father. Paul Revere's artwork included tea sets and spoons that he made for the moneyed class.

Prior to his poem-producing ride, the popular, folklore artist Paul Revere already had a career as an engraver and master goldsmith by the 1760s.
