      People of Mexico. 1952/printed 1976-77. 3 chromogenic prints. Each circa 25 x 19,5 cm. Mounted to card, titled, dated and signed by the photographer in pencil below the images on the mount. Walter Reuter, whose work was published in AIZ and who then as a reporter took part in the Spanish Civil War, was forced to flee after the defeat of the Spanish Republic in 1942 via Casablanca to Mexico. There he worked for the important magazines of the country such as Hov, Nosotros, Manuana and Siempre!. He had an exceptional interest for the indigenous people and one of the images offered here shows a well-known woman from the tribe of the Lacandones: Na Kin Margarita. Later she became one of the famous models of Manuel Alvarez Bravo who was close friends with Walter Reuter.
