2 multiples: painted fiberglass China, 2005 Ren Si Hong (born 1967) - Chinese painter and sculptor Both figures signed in gold-colored pen with 'Ren Si Hong', dated '2005' and numbered '6/10' on the pedestal; the male figure numbered as well with '6/10' on the reverse of the pedestal Height: circa 57 and 59 cm Very good condition Provenance: Private collection, United Kingdom From the same series of works, for which Ren Si Hong produced numerous figures, which he arranges in pairs or groups in the space. The artist is one of the most prominent exponents of the 'Post Pop Wave' in China Since the 1990s many Chinese artists in their works have been referring to portraits of Mao Zedong (1893-1976), the former President of the Republic, as well as to socialist icons from the Mao era. As well Ren Si Hong's recent works show reference to this canon of images. In this context, Ren Si Hong's multiples titled 'Broadcast Exercise' feature a group of young people doing 'Broadcast exercises', typical of the Mao era. These gym exercises that were performed by the transmission of radio programs during work since 1951, gained again popularity in recent years, including non-governmental businesses. Condition: Both figures are in good condition, showing scattered minor scratches. The height is circa 57 respectively 59 cm. Ren Si Hong (born 1967) Ren Si Hong studied at the Fine Art Department at the Hebei Normal College, focusing on oil painting. From 1991 to 1993, he attended the class for oil painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Between 1994 and 1995, he worked as a freelance artist in Yuan Ming Yuan. Ren Si Hong's works are based on his own experiences, shaped by the cultural revolutionary events in his country. Si Hong is today considered one of the most experimental and most respected artists in the contemporary art scene of China.
