(1904 Preßburg/Bratislava - 2005 Altlengbach/Niederösterreich) Aktfigur einer jungen Frau mit Ball Bronze, braun patiniert. Sign., Stempel der Gießerei Slvako Mikic, "E.A." H. 63 cm. Abb. in: Kat. Galerie & Kunsthandel Dr. Sternat, "Edmund Reitter: Arbeiten des Bildhauers", Wien 1978, S. 57. Brown patinated bronze. Signed, foundry stamp, "E. Mother and Child Bronze Casting Signed and numbered: 1/7 31,9 x 6,7 x 6,7 in The bronze sculpture was cast from an original plaster model from the artist's studio in an edition of 7. The edition is strictly regulated and no other casts are known. The subject of the mother and child group, often treated by Edmund Reitter, always has as its common denominator the emotional and sensual togetherness of the figures. Despite the heavy material, the child seems to prance lightly on the mother's graceful body. Shown in: Galerie & Kunsthandel Dr. Sternat, Works by the sculptor Edmund Reitter, Vienna 1978, p. 55.

      The Slave, 1946

      Est: €6,000 - €7,000

The Slave, 1946 Casted Bronze Signed, dated and numbered: 1/7 36,6 x 12,6 x 7,9 in The angular sculpture, reminiscent of geometric shapes, reveals a powerless, exhausted representation of the body. The implied shoulders and arms hang down from the body without tension, while the legs bend slightly. The bronze body is marked by scoring and scraping. Symbolizing the victims of World War 2, Edmund Reitter created this sculpture evoking deep emotion and visualizing the exhausted body of a "slave" he titled. Pictured in: Galerie & Kunsthandel Dr. Sternat, Works of the sculptor Edmund Reitter, Vienna 1978, p. 75.

Sleeping Woman with Child Casted Bronze Signed and numbered in the Base: 1/7 10,6 x 23,6 x 9,4 in The horizontally oriented body is composed of amorphous forms and limbs, which are fragmented and mounted on the body in an offset manner. Cubist stylistic elements visibly emerge. In contrast to the body, the head seems to lose increasing importance. An almost faceless figure becomes recognizable in the sculpture, which is achieved by abstracting the head. Depicted in: Galerie & Kunsthandel Dr. Sternat, Arbeiten des Bildhauers Edmund Reitter, Wien 1978, S. 63.

Patinated bronze Signed and numbered: 1/7 H: 18,5 in, W: ca. 5,1 in, D: ca. 6,3 in The figure reproduced here belongs to a series of character heads in which Edmund Reitter no longer pursues the goal of real implementation, but consciously accepts distortions and deformations in order to give the resulting figures a demonic, gloomy attitude. The woman with jug shows the restrained structure typical of the group of works, which culminates in the high head, as if from a being from another world. Depicted in: Galerie Dr. R. Sternat, Arbeiten des Bildhauers Edmund Reitter. Ausst. Kat., Wien, S. 48.
