Keira Rathbone Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1983 -

My name is Keira Rathbone and I am an established fine artist living and working in London.

For over 15 years I have developed a unique drawing technique that began somewhat accidentally, employing a manual typewriter as a drawing tool.

I draw images from life using my typewriter, seeing each imprint as a texture or shape with which to build complete drawings.

I develop and exhibit images based around compelling themes and often incorporate live audio/visual performances by typing before an audience with video projection, sound effects and collaborations with other artists in the UK and abroad.

Whether I’m typing live at an event or on the streets, I connect with public of all ages and walks of life in a very natural way. This interaction always excites me, so I wish to explore and convey this aspect more and more in my work. Always seeking projects involving art with social engagement for positive effect.

I continue to create commissions for private clients as well as for publication – I just love to converse with clients to reach ideas and outcomes that put into type (my type of type!) a given subject or theme.

Current personal project I’m working on is called ‘Inspiring Characters’. About the people whose work, words or actions inspire me. I type their eye from life using the characters that speak to me whilst studying and talking to them (see homepage image of Dr.John Cooper Clarke). To be exhibited in due course.
