These stand alongside a channel on whose other side is a cobbled street. The painting shines in the sunlight and it fascinates with its many details, the reflection of the houses in the channel and the idyllic atmosphere. Hans Ranzoni has made several paintings of the tanner houses. He was a member of the ‘Wachauer Künstlerbund’, whose aim was to cherish the local art, and founding member of the Hagenbund (1900-1905), an artist association that played a crucial role in the artistic life of Vienna from 1900 to the 1930s.
