This outstanding original mixed media with gouache, ink, and washes on paper is by American Pop Abstract Expressionist and Portraitist William (Bill) Quigley. Made on a large sheet of paper, Quigley uses a monochromatic palette to freely paint expressive brushstrokes with written statements including Did You Do That, Bob Ross Sick Amor, and I Paint a Lot of Portraits amongst crossed-out words, a sycamore tree, and an homage to Basquiat's crown. Quigley paints portraits for politicians, movie and sport stars, and celebrities of all realms, with its most famous, a Portrait of Donald Trump who purchased it for $100,000 shortly before his meteoric political rise to the White House. Quigley's work is held in the estates of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and William De Kooning, the MOCA and Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as in 450 international private collections. Signature, date and statement on lower right: WQ 2011 Yes We Can. Housed in a floating white wooden frame. Artwork dimensions: 34.50"L x 47"H. Frame size: 38.50"L x 50"H x 1.75"W. William Quigley is an American Artist (born April 29, 1961 in Pennsylvania) working in New York City and East Hampton. From 1980-85 he attended Philadelphia College of Art, Tyler School of Art in Rome and University of Pennsylvania. Immediately after Graduating Philadelphia College of Art, now University of the Arts, he had his first exhibition with Andy Warhol in 1985 at Henry S. McNeil Gallery. McNeil is one of the leading collectors of Contemporary Art in the United States. Moving to NY after the exhibition, he attended Columbia University Graduate School of Fine Art from 1985-87. Since he has lived and worked across Europe, India and South America showing in Art Fairs, Galleries, and Museums internationally, such as: Philadelphia Museum of Art, MOCA, Charles Craigg Museum Santa Barbara, The Reina Sofia in Madrid, Art Basel, Switzerland through Ernest Beyler Gallery and Ferran Cano, Art Chicago, Arco, Manny Silverman, Pablos Birthday NY, Ferran Cano in Spain, 71Mercer, Arne Zimmermann, and one of the first American painters to show at the Miro Foundation in Mallorca. In 1994 he founded and owned the infamous, AB Gallery, directed by Dan Bernier, who exhibted fledgling talents like Marc Chiat, Manuel Ocampo, Toba Khedorri, Dan Fisher, Steve Hurd, Julien Bismuth, Mike Bouchet, Jason Rhoades, George Stoll, Kevin Sullivan, Russell Crotty, and Martin Kersels. Quigley’s work is collected all over the world, and through his Creative Clothing line Skrapper, has built a reputation as one of the most influential artist’s among a new younger generation of self made artists.

Based in New York City and East Hampton, American painter William Quigley has a MFA from Columbia University, and has lived and exhibited across Europe and the USA. His work has been shown at institutions such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, MOCA, and the Miro Foundation in Mallorca, as well as at art fairs including Art Basel. Quigley is known for a varied body of work. In the earlier stages of his career, his paintings were merely abstract, influenced by Anselm Kiefer, Pollock, and de Kooning. After spending time painting in Venezuela, Quigley moved to Los Angeles in 1990, where he lived for over a decade, and in 1994 he founded the Los Angeles-based AB Gallery, which focused on the works of young artists.
