(Petits frottements en bordure). Provenance : -Honorine CLARY, cousine de la Reine Julie, épouse du Général Mathieu de la Redorte. -Puis descendance Ferdinand Quaglia (1780-1853) Peintre en miniature, 2 rue du Harlay, au Palais, né à Plaisance, membre des académies de France et de Florence, fixé à Paris depuis 1805. Il expose aux salons de 1808, 1812, 1814, 1817 et 1822. Un grand nombre de portraits, parmi lesquels nous citerons: Ceux du grand duc de Wurtzbourg, duc d’Abrantès en 1812; Du duc et de la duchesse de Berry, en 1817; De la reine de Suède et de Norvège. On citera encore ceux de Napoléon, de l’impératrice Joséphine, portrait original précieux, qu’il possède encore. M. Quaglia a obtenu une médaille d’or en 1814. Cet artiste s’occupe d’un traité approfondi de la miniature. Dictionnaire des artistes de l’école française au XIXe siècle de Charles Gabet, 1831.

          Vermeil set with a painted miniature depicting a woman's head. Signed Quaglia. Surrounded by a floral pattern set with small rose-cut diamonds and rhinestones. Ferdinando Quaglia was a great Italian painter (1780-1853). 19th century Italian and French work. Hallmark: boar's head.
