Patricia Qua (née Barraclough) was born in Sydney NSW on 26 January 1926 and grew up in a musical environment in Ormond Street, Ashfield. Her father Len played piano for silent movies, her mother Isabel was a violinist and pianist and both were members of a light classical string quartet. Pat's sons Chris (b: 1951) and Willie Qua (b: 1953) were founder members of the celebrated Galapagos Duck group in 1971 and are distinguished Australian jazz musicians. Her late husband Jack Qua was an executive of the Sydney Jazz Club and the Australian Jazz Convention for many years. Pat's sons Chris and Willie Qua were founder members of Galapagos Duck that year, and are distinguished Australian jazz musicians… *Bill Haesler OAM, based in Sydney, is one of Australia's foremost jazz writers, collectors, historians and documentationists.
