Bildmass 79 x 57 cm und 85 x 58 cm. Nummer 1/2. Gerahmt in zwei Teilen. Mit vom Künstler voll signiertem und nummeriertem Zertifikat. Provenienz: - Vom Künstler direkt erworben. - Sammlung Deutschland. Der in Hamburg lebende Künstler studierte Kunstgeschichte und danach freie Kunst, bevor er sich der Photographie zuwandte. Seine Bilder zeigen zumeist stark stilisierte Portraits und Interieur-Aufnahmen, die stets in einem kunsthistorischen Kontext verwurzelt sind. In seinen Werken verarbeitet er Allegorien und Bildtypen aus der christlichen Ikonographie und der antiken Mythologie. Wie einst die alten Meister oder Renaissance-Maler greift er dabei alte Bildmotive auf und verarbeitet sie neu. Zugleich nutzt er das Ideal als Schönheitsmassstab. Bernhard Prinz setzt die Inszenierung als ein gestalterisches Verfahren ein. Doch bei genauem Hinschauen erweist sich das Sein als Schein. Das vorliegende Diptychon, das keinen Titel trägt und deshalb relativ breiten Interpretationsraum zulässt, zeigt einerseits den Innenraum einer Kirche, der an seinen Gewölben und Balken mit Schädeln und Knochen versehen ist, andererseits das Portrait eines Jungen mit gekrümmtem Rücken und in einer melancholischen Pose, mit dem angewinkelten Arm an seinem Kinn. Der Knabe soll wohl an einen engelhaften Putto erinnern, der zugleich Unschuld und Ungezogenheit, in Form seines Lippenpiercings, darstellt. Das Skelettgerüst der Innenansicht wirft Fragen zur Entstehungsgeschichte der Kirchenarchitektur auf - wieviele Menschen mussten wohl ihr Leben lassen, damit dieses Gebäude gebaut werden konnte?
