The life and times of people in the old west are depicted in Doug Prine's art work. His attention toward the authentic details that make up life in the old west is one of the most notable things about his work. Doug achieves his goals of historically correct paintings very effectively by using the aids of period dressed models, historical re-enactments and through extensive research.

Doug's love of the old west is carried through to his life today. He and his wife Toni live in Nemo, TX where they have built an authentic COWBOY TOWN (Movie Town) with over 30 buildings where they encourage other artists to see the old west thru their eyes and relive the days of gunslingers and cowboys and Indians. Every year they have an annual Photo Shoot called The Art of Texas" where professional artists are invited to come with their camera and relive the west of Yesterday.

His use of color and what is a natural sense of composition, coupled with his thirty plus years of experience and painting the subjects he loves leads everyone, through Doug's eyes, to a thrilling adventure in the past.

Prine has been a full-time artist since 1975, he was a commercial artist and an illustrator for the Army. During the Vietnam war (1969-70) Doug was a combat artist. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute and studied many years with Bob Tommey. Doug teaches seminars when not painting.

Doug Prine has been the recipient of many prestigious awards over the years and a participant in top shows all over the country. He is represented in private collections in both foreign countries and in most states in the U. S

He is a current member of American Plains Artists and a past member of American Rendevous Artist. Doug participates in Old West, Mountain Man, Indian Wars, Civil War re-enactments and has appeared as an actor & re-enactor in films such as Rambo III, Once Upon a Time In China, True Friends, Blood on the Brazos, 13 Days To Glory. He has also appeared in commercials and music videos.
