His works predominantly featured three subjects: the surrealist works, birds, and African Americans such as Billie Holiday, Pearl Bailey and Dizzy Gillespie. Priebe became interested in African American culture when he taught an art class at a settlement house that was predominately African American. He said that his black figures were not portraits, but rather they were his memories of the people from the settlement house. Painting measures 6.5" X 9.5". Overall measurement of frame is 11.5" X 14.5". Condition- Painting looks to be in good condition. Frame is painted black and has some paint loss, chipping, and wear. See photos.
