    Est: $5,000 - $6,500

Fired and painted clay USA, 1998 Ken Price (1935-2012) – American sculptor Signed and numbered in white ‘2/25 Kenneth Price’ Created in collaboration with Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles Dimensions: 7 ¼ x 8 x 6 in. (18.4 x 20.3 x 15.2 cm.) Very good condition Estimate $12,000-$18,000 Exhibited "Ken Price at Gemini G.E.L.: Prints and Ceramics 1970-2005" Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl, Los Angeles, CA: 22 March - 10 May 2008. [another example exhibited] “Bolivar” by American artist Ken Price features the exquisite craftsmanship and abstract shape the Los Angeles artist is most famous for. Achieving a delicate balance between form and surface, this gem-like structure was fired and uniquely painted in iridescent green. From a unique edition of 25, these works were created in collaboration with Gemini, G.E.L., Los Angeles. Ken Price (American, 1935-2012) Known for his small-scale, brightly colored ceramic sculptures with exquisitely glazed and painted surfaces, American artist Ken Price’s work achieved a balance between form and surface. Towards the end of his career, Price began to make works on a much larger scale. Price’s first solo exhibition was at Ferus Gallery, Los Angeles in 1960, where he showed alongside other Los Angeles artist, including Ed Ruscha. The Menil Collection in Houston mounted a retrospective of Price's work in 1992, and in 2004 the Chinati Foundation, in Marfa, Texas, mounted a survey show of his work from the previous decade. In 2012, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art organized a major retrospective exhibition highlighting Price’s sculpture, which traveled to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Price's works can be found at many museums around the country, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA. Condition In overall good condition. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
