    THE COURT OF THE AMBASSADORS, THE ALHAMBRA, GRANADA signed, titled & dated l.l. Alhambra / 17 May 76 / W.Pretyman, titled verso, possibly in later hand watercolour heightened with bodycolour 28 x 22cm. / 11 x 8¾in. Provenance: Previously with The Parker Gallery, Albemarle St., London. William Pretyman was an English artist and decorator who spent much of his life in the United States, having emi- grated there in 1881 and later married Jenny Remmington, heiress of the Firearms and Typewriter dynasty. He began travelling Europe and North Africa in the mid 1870's, with the present work being one of the earliest from this period.
