GERMAN SCHOOL, 17TH CENTURY TWO STUDIES OF VENUS AFTER THE ANTIQUE.

    Est: -

Red and black chalk. 261 by 189 mm. Provenance: Christian Hammer, Stockholm (bears his collector's mark verso). An inscription on the reverse attributes this drawing to "Preissler". Although no directly comparable material is known, Daniel Preissler (1627-1665), or his son Johann Daniel (1666-1737), would seem to be the most likely members of the Nurnberg artist family of this name to have executed a drawing such as this.
