Posi Provenance : Vente anonyme ; New York, Christie's, 24 janvier 2001, n°81 Commentaire : Siennois d'origine, c'est pourtant à Rome que le travail de Paolo Posi rencontra le plus grand succès. Né à Sienne en 1708, notre jeune homme se rendit dans la ville éternelle et ne la quitta plus jusqu'à sa mort en 1776. Il s'y épanouit en tant qu'architecte, érigeant de nombreux autels, tombeaux, églises ou cloîtres. Sa grande spécialité fut la conception et la construction de bâtiments éphémères (ce qui explique que peu de ses œuvres soient visibles à Rome malgré son importance), érigés régulièrement pour des fêtes en tout genre dont la cité avait le secret. Il fut également l'architecte officiel de la famille Colonna et travailla à de nombreux projet pour cette prestigieuse famille. Nos deux dessins témoignent du talent notre artiste. Ces deux façades, aux proportions parfaites, agrémentées de décors baroques riches en ornementations sont les exemples idéaux de ces projets d'architecte tels qu'ils existaient au XVIIIe siècle. Notre artiste donne vie à ces ouvrages en plaçant des figures aux balcons de ces bâtiments, faisant de nos dessins, non plus des études d'architecture au sens stricte, mais plutôt des œuvres d'art autonome particulièrement séduisante. Lot en importation temporaire L'acquéreur devra acquitter des frais d'importation, soit 5,5% en sus du prix d'adjudication sauf s'il réexporte immédiatement le lot hors de l'Union Européenne.
