    Gyotaku Type Original Art Mono Print, suitable for framing. Title: "FISH FOSSIL" GYOTAKU printing originated in Japan About 100 years ago. Fishermen created gyotaku prints, long before photography, to record their prized catches. Gyotaku prints are created by pressing paper onto a fish that has been covered with ink or paint. The impressions are life-like but can also be creatively altered by the artist. The images are Mono Prints (one of a kind images), especially when altered by the artist, because: 1) organic fish don't last long. & 2) the image placement & alterations can not be exactly positioned & re-created. In the 20th century, the term Gyotaku has been extended to generally cover prints that are made from any organic material, not just fish. Artist Hand Signed/Dated/Titled in Pencil on Front & Verso.
