Pobuda", below: "Death of Gen. Damremont at Constantine". In the midst of a battle tumult, General Damrémont sinks to the ground, mortally wounded. In the background, the silhouette of the city of Constantine appears dimly between powder dams. Charles-Marie, Comte Denys de Damrémont was a French general who died in 1837 during the Battle of Constantine in Algeria.
