Otto Pilz 1876 Sonneberg/Thüringen – 1934 Dresden Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen 1710 Meißen Porzellan, glasiert mit Unterglasurbemalung. Auf der Sockeloberseite bezeichnet "O. Pilz.", rückseitig mit der Schwertermarke der Pfeiffer-Zeit in Unterglasurblau. Unterseitig die geritzte Modellnummer "B. 297", Bossierernummer "131", im Standring die Malernummer "2". Ausformung 1924–1934. WVZ Vogel WV 069. Otto Pilz 1876 Sonneberg/Thüringen – 1934 Dresden 1895–98 Studium der Bildhauerei an der Königlich Sächsischen Kunstakademie. Im Juni und Juli 1898 Reise nach Griechenland. Im Wintersemester 1898/99 Fortsetzung seines Studiums an der Königlich Preußischen Akademie in Berlin. Ab 1905 führte Pilz ein Atelier in Loschwitz, welches er 1907/08 nach Blasewitz auf die heutige Prellerstraße 28 verlegte. 1905–34 Teilnahme an zahlreichen Kunstausstellungen, vorrangig in Dresden, München, Berlin und Baden-Baden. 1914–18 Militärdienst im 1. Weltkrieg. 1923–26 Vorstandsmitglied im Sächsischen Kunstverein. Pilz studierte intensiv die Tierwelt an lebenden Vorbildern des Dresdner sowie des Berliner Zoos. Im Zoologischen Garten Dresden sind zwei Bronzen des Künstlers im Bestand, aber auch die Skulpturensammlung sowie das Münzkabinett der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden und die Städtische Galerie Dresden führen Skulpturen und Plastiken von Pilz. Eng arbeitete er mit den Porzellanmanufakturen Meißen und Hutschenreuther zusammen. Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen 1710 Meißen Nach der Erfindung des europäischen Hartporzellans durch Johann Friedrich Böttger 1710 von August dem Starken als erste Porzellanmanufaktur in der westlichen Welt gegründet. Bis 1863 befand sich die gesamte Produktion auf der Meißener Albrechtsburg, um dann in das neu angelegte Fabrikgebäude im Triebischtal umzuziehen. Ihre große Blüte erlebte die Manufaktur in den Jahren um 1720 bis 1750, verbunden mit den Namen Johann Gregorius Höroldt (Malerei) und Johann Joachim Kaendler (Plastik).
