An original Art Deco French travel poster by Lucien Pillot for the PLM Railway. The scene features a mother and her two daughters at the famous Besancon La Mouillere Saline Cure Station for Women and Children. The scenery is captivating with a grand building in the middleground, mountains in the background, and a building atop a distant hill. The mother is dressed in a fashionable outfit, and the girls wear swimsuits of a style from the period. One of the girls is holding a badminton racket and a birdie, while her sister carries a day pack, and hermother carries a purse. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and vibrant foliage marks the upper left and lower right corners of the composition. The travel industry used beautiful posters like this example to virtually transport future tourists to a world of luxury. An original early 20th Century French travel poster lithograph on paper. Titled "Besancon La Mouillere," with art by Lucien Pillot (1882-1973), produced circa 1925. An Art Deco figural landscape advertisement for the amenities found in the region of Bourgogne Franche Comte depicting mother and children figures with architectural elements, mountains, flora, and other forms. Having artist printed signature and French language details to bottom. Presented under glass in a decorative blue frame. Sight size measures approximately 38.5" x 24". Dimensions: 40 X 25 X 1 in. Condition: Good overall condition having age related toning and normal surface wear. Frame having moderate wear to edges and corners. Evidence of small petrified insect cocoon under glass.
