JEAN PILLEMENT (1728-1808) Le passage du berger et son troupeau sur un pont Importante huile sur toile Dimensions : 97 x 123,5 cm Provenance : Neumeister, Munich Accompagné d'une expertise (copie) par le Prof.Dr. Helmut Börsch-Supan datée de 2014 confirmant l'attribution à Jean Pillement. Peintre et aquafortiste français, issu d'une famille d'artistes d'origine lorraine, peintre officiel du Roi de Pologne et de la Reine Marie-Antoinette, il sera l'un des plus grands représentants du mouvement rococo à travers l'Europe. Eleve de Daniel Sarrabat, il entre à la Manufacture des Gobelins en tant que dessinateur et part ensuite pendant dix-sept ans en Espagne et au Portugal comme peintre de décoration. Grand voyageur, il partage plus tard son temps entre Varsovie, Londres, Lisbonne, Vienne et Paris. Pillement est décorateur et son œuvre constitue un document précieux dans l'évolution des représentations artistiques et dans l'usage des motifs tout au long du 18ème siècle. Cette évolution stylistique chez l'artiste ne saurait cependant être réduite au rococo. Il aime les couleurs brillantes et les contrastes d'ombre et de lumière, et ses tableaux font l'effet de décors éclairés sur le théâtre, genre très à la mode à Londres. Son œuvre servira d'inspiration pour le décor « au Chinois » des Manufactures de Faïencerie de Lunéville-Saint-Clément au 18ème siècle.

Landschaft mit Figuren an einer Brücke. Bleistift auf Bütten. Nicht sign. und dat. (um 1780). 26,9 x 40,3 cm. - Unter Passepartout. - Die sommerliche Landschaft mit einem in Kaskaden fallenden Bach, über den sich ein Brücke spannt, ist charakteristisch für den französischen Maler Jean Pillement. Die Szenerie ist um einige Personen erweitert, Frauen, die am Wasser Wäsche waschen und von ihren beiden Kindern begleitet werden. Das Blatt entspricht ganz dem von Pillement propagierten und auf seinen zahlreichen Reisen und Aufenthalten in Spanien, Portugal, England, Österreich und Polen verbreiteten "gout hollandais", einer französischen Interpretation der holländischen Landschaftsmalerei.

Felsenküste im Sturm mit Wiedergabe zahlreicher Schiffbrüchiger, die sich auf die beleuchteten Felsen gerettet haben. Dahinter Wrackteile mit darauf befindlichen, teils heftig gestikulierenden Figuren und rechts schräg stehende Masten eines untergegangenen Schiffes vor dunklem, teilweise aufleuchtendem Gewitterhimmel. Im Hintergrund links ein Küstenstreifen mit Leuchtturm. Anmerkung: Das Werk des Künstlers besteht größtenteils aus Landschaften, wovon die meisten in den 1780er-Jahren entstanden sind, als er auch die Marinemalerei für sich entdeckte. Er schaffte es, sehr sensibel und differenziert Licht sowie atmosphärische Effekte einzufangen. (Lione, 1727 - 1808) Paesaggio italiano (1770 circa) Olio su tela, cm 26X39 La tela si può collocare alla maturità dell'artista, dopo il suo documentato viaggio in Italia grazie al quale sviluppa una tecnica di sorprendente raffinatezza. Le opere di questi anni sono infatti ammirevoli per la interpretazione atmosferica, sulla scia di Vernet ma senza trascurare il tocco fantasioso e ancora in parte rocaille di Hubert Robert. Il pittore si rivela culturalmente un illuminista, un artista europeo che viaggiò da Parigi al Portogallo, passando da Londra per poi raggiungere Vienna, Varsavia, San Pietroburgo e compiere il viaggio in Italia secondo le tappe obbligate del Grand Tour, visitando Torino, Milano, Venezia e Roma. Nel nostro caso possiamo cogliere il superamento del gusto vernettiano valorizzando gli aspetti culturali che risentono in maniera marcata delle teorie enciclopediche elaborate soprattutto da Montesquieu, secondo le quali il clima, l'aspetto del cielo e il territorio determinano il carattere e la storia dei popoli e questo presupposto influì indubbiamente sull'impeccabile elaborazione formale della sua produzione.
