    Original Framed Woodcut Pencil Signed By Margaret Pilkington (1891 - 1974) Margaret Pilkington was born into a wealthy family, the Pilkington's of The Pilkington Glass Works and Pilkington Tile Company, in 1913 she went to study at The Slade, where she was taught wood engraving by Lucien Pissarro, in 1914 she went on to The Central School of Art & Design to study wood engraving under Noel Rooke, and was a member of the Society of Wood Engravers, and The Red Rose Guild, she was awarded the OBE in 1956. Presented here is a small woodcut printed in black ink on cream heavy weight card depicting a rocky outcrop. Pencil signed to bottom right 'Margaret Pilkington June 1920'. Housed in plain gilt contemporary frame with internal wide taupe card mount. Approx dimensions, 6 x 3 inches. Excellent condition.
