    Pietro PIFFETTI (1701-1777), attribué à ETAGERE D'ANGLE En placage de palissandre, à décor incrusté de rinceaux feuillagés. Les montants mouvementés se terminant en volutes. 23,5 x 15,5 cm Accidents, manque à un angle. Ce décor permet d'intégrer cette charmante petite étagère à un groupe de meubles réalisés à Turin dans la première moitié du XVIIIe siècle par différents ébénistes dont Pietro Piffetti, Luigi Prinotto, Ludovico De Rossi et Giuseppe Maria Galbiati, notamment pour la cour de Savoie et dont un certain nombre d'exemplaires sont conservés au pavillon de chasse de Stupinigi près de Turin.

Rosewood, ebony and ebonised wood with partly tinted black ivory and mother-of-pearl inlay. The upper section fitted with six drawers, the desk with seven drawers and one door. On eight square tapering legs. Inlaid overall with the Rape of the Sabine women, eagles, satyr heads, festoons and flowering sprays. Façade du bureau pourvue de sept tiroirs légèrement bombés et d'une porte au milieu. Décor sur toute la surface de l'enlèvement des Sabines, d'aigles, de têtes de satyre, de festons et de tiges fleuries. Travail de l'Italie du Nord, probablement Turin. Vers 1700.     WORKS BY THE ROYAL CABINET MAKER PIETRO PIFFETTI of serpentine form, the shaped cresting inlaid with foliage above canted scrolled corbels, the doors inlaid with a cartouche depicting a landscape with Diana seated amongst clouds above a male seated figure and his dog sleeping beneath a vine leaf and grape entwined tree, the doors opening to reveal strapwork on the inside of doors and three shaped shelves, the whole inlaid with strapwork cartouches, scrolls, husks, bellflowers and foliage 144.5cm. high, 138cm. wide, 35cm. deep; 4ft.9in., 4ft.6½in., 1ft.2in.
