    Pieter Pietersz. III Vromans ? – 1654 Delft Oil on wood panel. Signed "P. Vromans" below the crèche. To the reverse a label of a former owner lower left, another laber lower middle, inscribed (partly unreadable) with ink "Hoorman. The name is on the crèche [...] Caraggio, of whom one is supposing to be the first one who let flow the light from the child [...]". Lower right a red wax seal with a skull in a coat of arms, above a knights helmet with an angel (not at Lugt). Framed. Öl auf Holz. Signiert "P. Vromans" unterhalb der Krippe. Verso mit einem Klebeetikett eines Vorbesitzers u.li. Ein weiteres Klebeetikett u.Mi., darauf in Tusche teilweise leserlich altbezeichnet "Hoormann. Der Name steht an der Wiege. […] Caraggio, von dem man annehmet er sei der erste gewesen der das Licht vom Kinde habe ausströmen lassen". U.re. ein rotes Wachssiegel mit einem Totenkopf im Wappen, darüber ein Ritterhelm, welcher von einem Engel als Helmzier bekrönt wird (nicht bei Lugt). In einem profilierten, versilberten und mit Goldlack versehenen Rahmen. Dieser verso mit einem aus der 1. H. des 20. Jh. stammenden Klebeetikett des Hannoveraner Hofspediteurs Neldel. III Vromans ? – 1654 Delft Niederländischer Historienmaler und Sohn des Malers Pieter Jansz Vromans und Bruder des Malers Abraham Vromans. Möglicherweise war er der Schüler des Malers Leonard Bramer, welcher nur wenige Gehminuten von der Familie Vromans entfernt wohnte. 1609 Ehe mit Anneken Jacobsdr van der Heul. Trat 1635 in Delft in die Lukasgilde ein, deren Dekan er 1650 wurde.

    Pieter PIETERSZ (1540-1603). Un paysan avec un panier d'œufs ("ne pas mettre tous ses œufs dans le même panier " ?) Panneau de chêne , trois planches, renforcé Hauteur : 82,5 cm Largeur : 65 cm signé du monogramme à gauche et daté 1567 Provenance : vente Old Masters à Londres, Sotheby's, le 8 décembre 2011, n°191 Le Dr. Peter van den Brink, que nous remercions, a confirmé l'attribution de ce tableau à Pieter Pietersz. Il S'agit de la plus ancienne œuvre connue de Pietersz, avec le "Gortenteller" , le compteur de grains d'orge, de l'hôtel de ville de Saint-Gilles (St. Gillis) à Bruxelles, lui aussi daté de 1567 est qui pourrait être un possible pendant à notre panneau. Les deux tableaux sont dans la veine des scènes de marché de son père Pieter Aertsen (1508-1575), et font probablement allusion aux proverbes de cette époque. Expert : Cabinet Turquin Paris. Oak panel, three planks, reinforced Height: 82.5 cm Width: 65 cm Signed with the monogram on the left and dated 1567 Provenance : Old Masters sale in London, Sotheby's, December 8, 2011, n°191 Dr. Peter van den Brink, whom we thank, has confirmed the attribution of this painting to Pieter Pietersz. This is the oldest known work of Pietersz, with the "Gortenteller", the barleycorn counter, of the town hall of Saint-Gilles (St. Gillis) in Brussels, also dated 1567 is that could be a possible counterpart to our panel. Both paintings are in the vein of market scenes by his father Pieter Aertsen (1508-1575), and probably allude to proverbs of that time. Expert: Cabinet Turquin Paris. Dimensions: 65 x 82.5 cm.

    Samson and Delilah oil on panel 58.1 x 77.3 cm. PROVENANCE Christoffel collection, Antwerp. Anon. Sale, Paul Brandt, Amsterdam, 26-9 May 1970, lot 71, as Maerten van Heemskerck. NOTES This picture has been examined through infra-red reflectography by Mr. P. van den Brink of the Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht, on 30 January 2002. Under those conditions, some underdrawing is visible, in particular around Delilah's face and dress, showing minor alterations in the painted composition. Mr. van den Brink kindly pointed out that the underdrawing was consistent with that found in the works of Pieter Pietersz. and his studio.
