    Appointment of Joseph Aborn (1722-1799) of Rhode Island, as Inspector of the Revenue for the Post of Patuxet" (sic), partly printed on laid paper, dated Dec 15th, 1795, with paper seal, countersigned by Timothy Pickering (who had been appointed as Secretary of State by Washington -- just five days earlier). Housed in red walnut cove frame with gold liner, matted under UV plexi. OS: 21" x 25", SS: 11 1/2" x 15". Laid down, toned, tear into seal, separated at folds, multiple tears, only infill is at the 'T' of Pickering's first name.

    George Pickering [1794-1857]- Plas Mawr, Conwy:- signed with initials bottom right pencil drawing 17 x 25.5cm. * Notes. Plas Mawr is an Elizabethan town house built between 1576 and 1585 by Robert Wynn who was known for his generous hospitality supported by income from his dairy herd, orchards and gardens. When Wynn died, the complex instructions regarding his estate took years to resolve, which effectively prevented the redevelopment of the house with the result that the Elizabethan architecture is now preserved and protected.
