(Viggiù, 1875 - 1962) Portrait de femme, Silvia Tajana Signé A Piatti en bas à gauche Huile sur toile, 184x70 cm Dans ce portrait, la silhouette fine et élancée se dresse avec une extrême élégance dans l'espace de la grande toile en s'imposant de manière monumentale dans sa pose plastique. L'artiste refuse de définir l'environnement avec des détails de mobilier didactique,se concentrant sur le personnage et apportant la preuve de son talent de coloriste si évident dans les détails de la robe couleur rose bonbon. Fils du sculpteur Domenico, Antonio Piatti se consacra à la sculpture sous la direction de son père et de Leonardo Bistolfi, mais plus tard il s'inscrit aux cours de peinture à l'Académie de Brera. En 1901,il participe à la première Exposition d'Art à Varèse et ensuite présent à Turin il remporte la médaille d'argent avec le tableau Les roses et les épines. En 1903,il reçoit le Prix national à la Biennale de Brera avec La Douleur suprême.Depuis,il a participé avec succès à toutes les grandes expositions en Italie et à l'étranger.Observateur profond du beau et du 'vrai',il recherche ces deux éléments dans toutes ses peintures:on l'appelait à juste titre 'peintre du sentiment'.
