Caesar Philipp (born 1859), Self Portrait with Wife, Oil, 1925

    Est: €900 - €1,170

Oil on canvas Germany, 1925 Caesar Philipp (born 1859) – German painter Signed and dated ‘Caesar Philipp 1925’ upper left Dimensions: 93 x 85 cm In partly gilt ornament frame: 183.5 x 110.5 cm Condition: The painting bears two vertical, patched tears in the canvas in the lower area. There are larger areas of retouching visible under UV-light, otherwise only occasional small touch-ups. Additionally, there is a dent with tiny paint loss as well as drying and aging cracks in places. The varnish is slightly darkened. The overall impression is good. The ornamented bars of the frame bear several cracks, occasional sections are nearly fully detached from the frame. At one place they are secured with adhesive tape which will cause losses of the gilding when removed. In addition, the frame shows the usual signs of age and use. The painting measures 93 x 85 cm. The framed dimensions are 183.5 x 110.5 cm. (fea) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
