Inscribed on the reverse; Ponte Vecchio - Firenze and dated Ottobre 1910. Signed lower left A. Micheli P. 1910. Measures 9 inches high, 8 inches wide. Frame measures 12.5 inches high, 11.5 inches wide. In good condition. From Askart.com: ALBERTO MICHELI PELLEGRINI, (1870 - 1952) was born in Florence, Italy. His father was the well-known architect Vincenzo Micheli (1830-1905) Director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Alberto was the student of noted artist Giovanni Fattori (1825-1908). Alberto Micheli (usually signed his works A. Micheli). He started exhibiting in 1896 and participated in numerous group exhibitions. Later he became famous for his portraits of attractive ladies and for his illustrations for top Italian publishing houses, in particular Salani, and several magazines including Fiammetta, Italy laughs, and Novissima. He was a close friend of the influential progressive intellectual and poet, Angiolo Orvieto (1869-1967), whose portrait he painted and also became a member of the Leonardo da Vinci Society founded by Orvieto.
