Patte (Pierre) Mémoires sur le Objets les Plus Importans de l'Architecture, half-title, engraved title-vignette, head-piece and 27 plates, all but 2 folding, some light browning, a few spots, [Berlin Kat. 2426; Fowler 242; Millard French 131], Paris, Rozet, 1769; Mémoire sur la Construction de la Coupole, projettée pour couronner la nouvelle église de Sainte Genevieve a Paris, 2 folding engraved plates, the last a little spotted and soiled, Amsterdam, P.Fr.Gueffier, 1770, together 2 works in 1 vol., only editions, modern bookplate, contemporary calf, spine gilt with red morocco label, rubbed, upper cover detached, corners repaired, 4to ⁂ The second work is scarce; it questioned the stablility of Soufflot's projected heavy dome for the church of Sainte Genevieve and provoked much argument. Library Hub records only 2 UK copies (BL and V & A), and the BL copy apparently lacks the title.

(leicht berieben und beschabt und säurebrüchig) mit goldgeprägtem RSchild und RVergoldung. Paris, Selbstverlag, Desaint und Saillant, 1665. -- Cohen-Ricci 786. Ornamentstichsammlung 2516. – Erste Ausgabe des reich illustrierten Werkes. Die schönen Kupfertafeln zeigen architektonische Pläne von Denkmälern, Portalen, Kirchen, Brunnen sowie einen Stadtplan von Paris. Des Weiteren stellt eine Tafel den Einsatzbereich einer Hebemaschine dar, in dem sie vorführt, wie eine Statue auf ein Postament gehoben wird. Die Dekorationen der Aussenfassaden werden mit zusätzlichen Reliefs geschmückt. Die Kupfertafeln sind u. a. von Pierre Patte, Marvie, Constant, Guelin, Slodz und Rousset sowie Noël Lemire gestochen worden. – Titel gestempelt, mit hs. Besitzvermerk und im Bug leicht feuchtrandig. PATTE, Pierre (1723-1814). Monumens érigés en France a la gloire de Louis XV. Paris: chez l'auteur, Desaint & Saillant, 1765. 2° (429 x 291mm). Engraved royal arms on title, several en-têtes and 57 plates and plans, including a map of Paris, 15 double-page, 10 folding, with the final leaf of approbation and 'avis au relieur' (this latter a little browned, some spotting in the margins). Contemporary mottled calf (rebacked with modern spine gilt in 18th-century style). Provenance: A. Froelicher (book-label) -- John V. van Pelt (blue stamp on an endpaper). FIRST EDITION of Patte's important work in two parts. The first describes the many monuments erected to Louis XV throughout France while the second proposes a square dedicated to the king where what is now the Place de la Concorde and, as such, is an important treatise on town-planning with emphasis on the laying-out of streets, construction of foundations, drains, the use of fountains, etc.
