ISAAC CRUIKSHANK (1756-1811) AFTER GEORGE MOUTARD WOODWARD (C1760-1809) PRIDE AND EXALTATION IN A SEDAN CHAIR (BM 9147) etching in fresh contemporary colour, Plate 84 in upper left margin, published by Allen & Co, April 1 1797, 20.5 x 27cm and James Parry (1805-1871) after David Henry Parry (1793-1826) - MR PHILIP WOOTTON OF NOTTINGHAM [the steeeplejack], etching in contemporary colour, published by H Parry, Salford, 36.5 x 21.5cm, both unframed (2) The first print depicts a rainy night in The High Pavement and was issued as a response to the near impossibility of being able to procure a sedan chair in Nottingham (see R Ilffe & W Baguley, Victorian Nottingham, Vol 2, 1971, p14.)
