"Né en 1939 dans le Gujarat, Manu Parekh est un peintre indien de renom, diplômé de la Sir J.J. School of Art de Mumbai en 1962. Ses premières œuvres explorent la relation énergique entre l'homme et la nature, une connexion essentielle qu'il célèbre dans son art. Les contradictions, omniprésentes dans la vie, sont également au cœur de sa pratique artistique, qu'il s'agisse de ses sujets ou de ses genres. Ses peintures, marquées par des couleurs vives et des lignes expressives, transmettent des émotions puissantes – douleur, espoir, angoisse – incitant le spectateur à réfléchir sur le monde. Influencé par son environnement, Parekh a trouvé une source d'inspiration majeure à Calcutta et Bénares, villes de contrastes et de spiritualité. Sa relation avec sa femme Madhvi, artiste autodidacte, a enrichi son processus créatif. Depuis sa première exposition personnelle en 1968 à Ahmedabad, Parekh a présenté ses œuvres dans de nombreuses galeries prestigieuses en Inde et à l'étranger. Parmi ses expositions notables figurent Bénares - Eternity Watches Time (2007) et Oblations rituelles (1999). Récompensé par des distinctions telles que le Padma Shree en 1992 et le prix national de la Lalit Kala Akademi en 1982, il est reconnu comme une figure majeure de l'art contemporain indien. Parekh vit et travaille actuellement à New Delhi."

Manu Parekh Abstract Surrealist Landscape Painting

India,b.1939 Depicts a dark city skyline with colorful abstract interiors shining through the windows. Parekh attended the Sir J.J. School of Art and explored the relationship between man and nature in his early works. Parekh often uses vivid colors and strong lines in his work to express emotions such as pain and anguish. Parekh held his first solo exhibition in Ahmedabad in 1968 with other exhibitions throughout India, United Kingdom, and America. A photograph of the artist standing beside this painting has been included in this listing.

Manu Parekh (India born 1939). Colored ink on paper drawing depicts the profile of a gentleman with a snake wrapped around his neck and a nude bird headed woman in the background.Born in 1939in Gujarat, Manu Parekh completed a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1962. Parekh's early work explored the relationships between man and nature, as according to him, this was an energetic linkthat had to be celebrated. The artist also points out that, since then, contradictions have formed the basis of his artistic practice, no matter the subject or genre of his works. Polemics have always intrigued Manu Parekh - the energy of theorganic form and the inherent sexuality within these forms are intangible elements in his works. Parekh received a diploma in art from from the Sir J.J. School of Art in 1962, with his early works exploring the relationship between man and nature. Parekh's work has been exhibited at Saffronart and Berkeley Square Gallery, Jehangir Art Gallery, Vadehra Art Gallery, Tao Art Gallery, and many others. Image 14 inches x 22 inches.
