RICHARD PANTELL Signed Aquatint Illustration Artwork, 1983, signature to lower right reads Pantell 1983, subject a group of young adults in front of tunnel with street view to their behind, measures 25 3/4 x 33 1/2, window measures 19 1/8 x 27 inches, ornate gilt wooden frame, surface wear to frame, professionally matted and double matted in linen, not examined out of frame. Richard Pantell grew up in New York City's northern borough of The Bronx. During those formative years he became acquainted with the masterworks in the city's art museums and galleries. It was also at this time that the imagery of the city's architecture, subways, billboards, and street life found its way into his earliest drawings and painting. Pantell Studied at The Art Students League of New York and is largely self-taught. Pantell also studied etching and spent five years working as a print restorer for galleries in New York City and the surrounding area. He moved to the art colony of Woodstock, NY in 1977. The paintings and prints of Richard Pantell can be found in such collections as
