A bronze sculpture of a cowboy and his horse relaxing after a long day of riding and working on the ranch by Western artist Bill Owen. In addition to being a fine artist, Owen was also a cowboy and enjoyed every aspect of the ranching lifestyle, its people, as well as its animals. This piece captures a charming everyday moment. Wearing traditional Western garb, the cowboy lies on the ground, holding one of the reins of his equine partner in his left hand. The figures and the land are rendered with remarkable realism and an impressive attention to detail. A gorgeous bronze statue by Bill Owen, a Cowboy Artist who lived the life that he depicted in his art. Size: 6.75" L x 7.5" W x 5.75" H (17.1 cm x 19 cm x 14.6 cm) About the artist: Bill Owen was born to a father who was a cowboy and a mother who was an artist, the perfect combination to bring this marvelous Western artist into the world. Born and raised in Arizona, Owen was a member of several western art organizations, including the Cowboy Artists of America and the National Academy of Western Artists. In 1993, he received the Frederic Remington Award for Artistic Merit from the Cowboy Hall of Fame, and in 1996, he was named a Rendezvous Artist by the prestigious Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition, in 2003 at the Prix de West Invitational Exhibition and Sale, he was the first recipient of the Express Ranches Great American Cowboy Award. Finally, he served as President of the Cowboy Artists of America three times, and received the CAA Award four times. Owen's work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum in Cody, Wyoming; the Grand Palais in Paris, France; and at the Western Art Show in Beijing, China. While his artistic achievements and honors were numerous, Owen was most proud of contributing to his community by creating the Arizona Cowpuncher's Scholarship Organization in 1995 which awarded educational scholarships to deserving individuals from ranching families.
