      MASAMITSU A Miniature Inlaid Iron Folding Screen Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century The four hinged panels decorated with gold and silver damascene details, depicting 1, A cockerel perched on a plum branch; 2, Two men obscured under large umbrellas running through a thunderstorm; 3, A landscape with a village, pagoda, and Mount Fuji; and 4, Two bamboo stalks, all above smaller rectangular panels of cherry blossom, the reverse with a continuous engraved design of sparrows playfully flying around bamboo and camellia as two plump puppies watch; signed Masamitsu to (Carved by Masamitsu). 29.3cm x 15.7cm (11 9/16in x 6 3/16in).
