She was part of the influential Amsterdam Joffers, a group of female artists known for their naturalistic and impressionistic styles.Westendorp-Osieck was born Johanna Elisabeth Osieck, the daughter of merchant Philip Willem Osieck and Catharina Agnes Briel. She received her artistic training at the Teekenschool voor den Werkenden Stand and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Before formal education, she had already received lessons from another Amsterdam Joffer, Lizzy Ansingh. Her first major commission was in 1909, when she drew a certificate for the Amsterdam cradle designed by Karel de Bazel for Princess Juliana.Westendorp-Osieck mainly painted still lifes and portraits, though her work also included travel sketches and other genres. Her travels took her to places such as the United States, Belgium, Cambodia, Ceylon, Egypt, France (where she stayed in Paris), and Japan. In 1931, she travelled through Asia, and her travel sketches were exhibited in both Amsterdam and The Hague. Her style was naturalistic and colourful, influenced by Impressionism.She was a member of various art societies, including Arti et Amicitiae, the Vereeniging Sint Lucas in Amsterdam, Pulchri Studio in The Hague, and the Hollandse Aquarellistenkring. Her work was awarded several times, including a silver medal at the exhibition "De Vrouw 1813-1913," the Willink van Collen Prize in 1915, the Sint Lucas Prize in 1930, the queen's gold medal in 1936, and the gold medal at the 1937 World Exposition in Paris. In 1956, she was awarded the Silver Anjer for her contributions to the arts.On June 21, 1917, she married stockbroker Mr. Herman Karel Westendorp. Betsy Westendorp-Osieck passed away on March 1, 1968, at the age of 87 in Amsterdam.

Ze maakte deel uit van de invloedrijke Amsterdamse Joffers, een groep van vrouwelijke kunstenaars die zich kenmerkten door hun naturalistische en impressionistische stijl.Westendorp-Osieck werd geboren als Johanna Elisabeth Osieck, dochter van de koopman Philip Willem Osieck en Catharina Agnes Briel. Haar artistieke opleiding volgde ze aan de Teekenschool voor den Werkenden Stand en de Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Al vóór haar formele opleiding kreeg ze les van een andere Amsterdamse Joffer, Lizzy Ansingh (1875-1959). Haar eerste grote opdracht was in 1909 het tekenen van een oorkonde voor de door Karel Petrus Cornelis de Bazel (1869-1923) ontworpen Amsterdamse wieg voor prinses Juliana (1909-2004).Westendorp-Osieck schilderde vooral stillevens en portretten, maar haar werk omvatte ook reisschetsen en andere genres. Haar reizen brachten haar naar onder andere de Verenigde Staten, België, Cambodja, Ceylon, Egypte, Frankrijk (waar ze in Parijs verbleef) en Japan. In 1931 reisde zij door Azië, waarbij haar reisschetsen zowel in Amsterdam als in Den Haag werden tentoongesteld. Haar stijl was naturalistisch en kleurig, beïnvloed door het impressionisme.Ze was lid van diverse kunstgenootschappen, waaronder Arti et Amicitiae, de Vereeniging Sint Lucas in Amsterdam, Pulchri Studio in Den Haag en de Hollandse Aquarellistenkring. Haar werk werd meerdere malen bekroond, met onder andere een zilveren medaille tijdens de tentoonstelling "De Vrouw 1813-1913", de Willink van Collenprijs in 1915, de Sint Lucasprijs in 1930, de gouden medaille van de koningin in 1936 en de gouden medaille op de Wereldtentoonstelling van 1937 in Parijs. In 1956 werd haar de Zilveren Anjer toegekend voor haar verdiensten in de kunst.Op 21 juni 1917 trouwde ze met effectenhandelaar Mr. Herman Karel Westendorp. Betsy Westendorp-Osieck overleed op 1 maart 1968 op 87-jarige leeftijd in Amsterdam.
