        Ohler, Willi. 1888 Hanau - 1975 Worpswede. Attributed. Still life with fruits. Oil/canvas, unsigned, verso inscribed on stretcher, 42.5 x 60 cm, minimal paint chipping upper right, lower right canvas minimally damaged, framed 61.5 x 77 cm.- Ohler is known primarily as Worpwswede ceramist. Before he learned the potter's trade after World War 1 and established himself as a close companion of Bernhard Hoetger as a ceramist, he attended the drawing academy in Hanau, studied painting, sculpture and architecture in Berlin. Before 1925, his painting is characterized by clear echoes of Expressionism, later giving way to a formal and colorful restraint up to the representationalism of the New Objectivity.
