Spon) at rear, contemporary maroon half morocco, spine with recent gilt-lettered label, spine and tops of boards a little faded, extremities lightly rubbed, 8vo QTY: (1) NOTE: George Bogle led the first British mission to Tibet in 1774, and Manning was the first Englishman to visit Lhasa in 1811.

            Washington Related c. 1876 George Washington Bakelite Oval Portrait Plaque c. 1876 Centennial Period, President George Washington Oval Portrait Plaque, Made of Bakelite, Choice Extremely Fine. This original, deep black pressed Bakelite George Washington Bust Portrait was produced for the United States Centennial celebration period. It is oval in shape and measures about 1.75" x 2.5". The handsome Washington portrait portion is mounted to an oval white marble disk for support and display. Its high-relief portrait image shows President Washington in chest-up pose looking slightly left. Rarely encountered, this choice example has no defects or detractions.

John Chester Buttre (1821 Auburn, New York – 1893 Ridgewood, New Jersey), was an American steel-plate engraver and lithographer, responsible for some 3,000 engraved portraits of American political, naval and military personalities. He published "The American Portrait Gallery" in three volumes (1880–81) with text by his daughter, Lillian C. Buttre. - Framed: 24 1/4" high x 30" wide.
