      Est: €600 - €900

Wilhelm Oelschig (*1814 Berlin) after C.D. Rauch: Boy with a Bowl (Love), Dez. 1837 - Jan. 1838, Pencil drawing Technique: Pencil drawing on paper Size: 24,9 x 18,1 cm | 9 3/4 x 7 in Inscription: lower left inscribed: "Rauch inv.", lower right signed: "W.Oelschig" Condition: Slightly browned, light margin, somewhat stained, pinholes on the left and right side of the head, margins underlaid. Description: Oelschig's drawing reproduces with extreme sensitivity the appearance of the approximately one meter high statue of the "Boy with the Bowl" by Christian Daniel Rauch, which the sculptor created in 1834/35. Oelschig had probably made the drawing between the end of December 1837 and January 1838 as a model for an Etching for Gustav Friedrich Waagens "Abbildungen der Bildhauerwerke Rauch's", which was not executed later. Keywords: Romanticism, Figure, Drawing, Model, Pencil, Berlin, Germany, Sculpture, Sculptor, Boy, Boy, Bowl, Love, Statuette
