Ludwika Nitschowa Art for Sale at Auction

Ludwika Nitschowa (1889 Radlowo - 1989 Warsaw) Polish sculptor.

After graduating from high school, she worked for two years in the studio of Leon Wyczólkowski in Krakow. In 1909-1912 she studied at the Maria Niedzielska School of Fine Arts for Women, which she graduated with a medal. In 1923-1926 she studied sculpture at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts in the studio of Tadeusz Breyer. In 1929, together with a group of Breyer students, she founded the "Forma" cooperative, which carried out orders for tombstones, church and architectural sculptures.

The artist had her first exhibition of paintings and sculptures at the Zacheta gallery in 1929. From 1945, she was a member of the Association of Polish Artists. In 1950 she started working at the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1956 she was appointed associate professor. She was the head of the sculpture department and deputy dean of the faculty. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1961. Her students were, among others Kazimierz Gustaw Zemla and Stanislaw Kulon.
