    CONNECTICUT/WASHINGTON DC, 1875-1950 An oil on panel portrait painting of a Japanese girl by Spencer Nichols. Prior to Nichols' painting career, he worked as a chief designer for Tiffany Studios and later served in the Spanish-American War and World War I. The work was executed in a vibrant color palette depicting a geisha resting in a field with a bouquet of flowers. The work is signed in the lower left corner "Spencer Nichols". The painting retains a partial label from a prior exhibition.
