    (Charleston, South Carolina/Savannah, Georgia, 1884-1968) Oil on canvas titled, “Betty Irish” on the edge of the canvas. This is an exceptional work from the 1920s depicting an elegant and striking young woman in the region. Framed nicely. H25 1/4" W20 1/2" (without frame) The work was discovered by renowned Savannah, Georgia antiques dealer Skeeter McNarry along with several other portraits of young women of the era within the collection of the artist estate. This work was part of an exhibition in Charleston held in 1992 by Estate Antiques on King Street in Charleston and is accompanied by an original copy of its description.

Frame size: 23 3/4 in. x 19 3/4 in. John Duncan purchased remainder of artists works from their estate in 2005. Anne Taylor Nash did not begin painting seriously until, the age of 40, when her friend and fellow artist Elizabeth O’Neill Verner encouraged her to take up the brush. She studied in Charleston before moving to Savannah where she lived and painted for the rest of her life. She exhibited at the Telfair Academy with the Savannah Art Club at least ten times between 1931 and 1958. In 2015, the Telfair held the first solo exhibition of her work since an exhibition of her portraits at the Gibbes in 1933. Measurements: Height: by sight 19 1/2 in. x Width: 15 1/2 in. Condition: Good codnition, some areas of inpainting in forehead and dress, light wear to frame.
