Though it eventually disappeared, it was revived in 1885 by the French artist Henri Cros. The process involves grinding colored glass into granules, mixing it with a binder, and packing it into a mold before heating it to fuse and shape the piece. Due to the meticulous finishing required, this technique is not suited for mass production. However, it allows for precise color placement, enabling highly expressive and detailed artworks. This auction will feature four pieces by leading pâte de verre artists, Amalric WALTER and Gabriel ARGY-ROUSSEAU .
